Consult a mental clinic at once if these symptoms begin to inhibit your life processes. A Week Before NaNo.

 7 days until...

I'm midway to crazy land as NaNo approaches, threatening me with all it has, especially the number fifty thousand. It's horrifying, it really is, when I consider how unprepared I am for this thing. It's not even funny by now - unless you're into the "we're going to die? Or go crazy? Man, you're soooo funny!" type of humor.

But really, I have a plot, I have characters, I have settings... What could possibly go wrong?

Everything.

My plot is based on mixing six different plot ideas I've gotten over the years: one of them is high fantasy. That means heroes, different races and creatures, magical artifacts and generally Lord of the Rings style epicness.

Another is science fiction. There's a guy in a space station sort of thing who can control the world and keep it from causing a universe-wide apocalypse.

There's also the humor of a Bridget Jones like character living a life in New York City (and getting moved to the space station...).

There's some psychology, when I introduce a character often judged by stereotypes and when the good main character proves to be a jerk and manipulator, who was only using the group that was helping him save the world, using them as a way to get his good name back.

And there's romance when my MFC (main female character) falls in love with the jerk and apparently ends up pregnant, since the novel ends with him naming a godfather and saying "you'll be there for them when I'm gone". And he leaves to fulfill the prophecy and redeem his TRUE good name.

Did I mention that the main character in the space station is really an elf exiled from his world? No? My bad.

So now you see how many things there are that could - and will - go wrong. Even I don't fully understand the plot I'm trying to write here. But there's a bright side - at least this year I have a plot. Last year, I was lacking even that...
